Microporous activated carbon developed from KOH activated biomass waste: surface mechanistic study of methylene blue dye adsorption (2021)

Abstract In this work, sugarcane bagasse waste (SBW) was used as a lignocellulosic precursor to develop a high-surface-area activated carbon (AC) by thermal treatment of the SBW impregnated with KOH. This SBW activated carbon (SBWAC) was characterized by crystallinity, porosity, surface morphology and functional groups availability. The SBWAC exhibited Type I isotherm which corresponds to microporosity with high specific surface area of 709.3 m2/g and 6.6 nm of mean pore diameter.

STUDY OF THERMAL PERFORMANCE OF PREFABRICATED LARGE PANEL BUILDINGS (2023)

Many countries in Eastern Europe, during the 1960–1970s, as well as Albania responded to the growing demand for new houses utilizing the emerging trends for industrialization of the construction process and mass construction of prefabricated residential buildings based on large-panel prefabricated RC elements. During the 1970s large-panel buildings spread throughout the country and became the main type of construction in the Albanian cities such as Shkodër, Tirana, Durrës, Elbasan, Berat, etc.

Laboratory And Field Tests On A Prefabricated Steel-Bar Mesh-Panel System For Continuously-Reinforced-Concrete Pavement (CRCP) (2021)

The decline in the number of persons of working age is a social problem in Japan. This is a particularly serious concern for workers in the construction field; construction systems should be considered for productivity improvements. Prefabrication systems are an effective method for shortening construction cycles and times. In fact, various precast concrete members have been employed to realize more rapid construction and improvements in quality. Using precast concrete members is difficult beca

Axial compression capacity analysis of prefabricated steel reactive powder concrete columns in prefabricated modular buildings (2022)

This article proposes a prefabricated steel reactive powder concrete (PSRPC) component. Axial compression tests are conducted with five 3m full-scale column specimens to investigate the specimen damage and failure process and to measure the axial displacement, strain and ultimate bearing capacity in order to study the influences of the RPC strength and the section steel flange thickness on the mechanical properties of the PSRPC. The tests show the following. The ultimate failure mode of the PSR

Base-Catalyzed Transesterification vs. Supercritical Methanol Transesterification in the Optimization, Rigorous Model Simulation, and Heat Integration for Biodiesel Production (2022)

Biodiesel production is worthy of continued study and optimization of production procedures due to its environmentally beneficial attributes and renewable nature. This study aims to investigate the optimum conditions and optimum production unit for the production of biodiesel from waste vegetable oil. Two production processes were considered: one using base-catalyzed transesterification, and the second is non-catalytic transesterification (using methanol at very high temperature and pressure). T

Optimization of Oil and Methanol Ratio, Time, and Reaction Temperature of Biodiesel Making from Kemiri Sunan Oil (Trisperma Oil Reuteals) with Two Stage Transesterification (2020)

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel which is generally produced from the transesterification process between vegetable oil and methanol, ethanol, or butanol with the help of a catalyst which aims to speed up the reaction. The raw material for making biodiesel, namely renewable vegetable oil, also sees Indonesia as a tropical country so that biodiesel can be produced on a large scale and is environmentally friendly. Vegetable oil can be classified into two, namely edible oil (food) and non edible oi

South Asian Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease in the United States Demonstrate More Fistulizing and Perianal Crohn Phenotype (2020)

AbstractBackgroundSouth Asians have recently been identified as having a rapidly rising incidence and prevalence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) throughout the world. However, longitudinal phenotypic studies of South Asians living in the United States remain scarce.MethodsWe retrospectively studied 171 South Asian patients with IBD treated at 2 US tertiary centers who presented between 2000 and 2016. South Asian IBD patients were randomly matched in a 1:2 ratio with sex and IBD subtype–match
