Detecting Tweets Containing Cannabidiol-Related COVID-19 Misinformation Using Transformer Language Models and Warning Letters From Food and Drug Administration: Content Analysis and Identification (2022)

This research shows that commercial CBD or COVID-19 misinformation can potentially be identified and curbed using transformer-based language models and known prior instances of misinformation. Our approach functions without the need for labeled data, potentially reducing the time at which misinformation can be identified. Our approach shows promise in that it is easily adapted to identify other forms of misinformation related to loosely regulated substances.

A cross-sectional survey: Exploring future healthcare workers' intention to use cannabis through extended theory of planned behavior (2022)

Cannabis is the most extensively abused drug, leading to multiple health burdens such as traffic accidents and psychosis. There is a global wave of legalization of recreational and medical cannabis. This study aimed to understand future healthcare workers' intention to use cannabis through extended Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). An online cross-sectional survey on cannabis, including validated survey tools and questions on demographics, knowledge, and constructs of the TPB was designed, and d

Implementation and Preliminary Evaluation of a 12-Week Cognitive Behavioural and Motivational Enhancement Group Therapy for Cannabis Use Disorder (2023)

This study provides preliminary evidence that a 12-week combined CBT and MET treatment for cannabis use disorder delivered in a novel group setting improves cannabis use outcomes. Potential predictors of reduced cannabis use and retention were identified. Future controlled studies are warranted, and strategies for increasing retention should be explored.

Dose-dependent changes in global brain activity and functional connectivity following exposure to psilocybin: a BOLD MRI study in awake rats (2025)

Psilocybin is a hallucinogen with complex neurobiological and behavioral effects. This is the first study to use MRI to follow functional changes in brain activity in response to different doses of psilocybin in fully awake, drug naive rats. We hypothesized that psilocybin would show a dose-dependent increase in activity in the prefrontal cortex and thalamus, while decreasing hippocampal activity. Female and male rats were given IP injections of vehicle or psilocybin in doses of 0.03 mg/kg, 0.3

Possible Weight Regain Managements after Bariatric Surgery (2022)

Obesity is an uprising trend across the world resulting in huge costs for healthcare systems and declines in the quality of life in patients. Bariatric surgery is one of the most effective approaches to weight loss. Although bariatric surgery can be considered as a minimally invasive approach it has a series of complications such as weight regain 1 to 4 years after surgery. Nonetheless, most patients achieve sufficient weight loss, but the other subjects with supervised strategies would be able

Cannabis and Intentional Self-injury: a Narrative Review (2022)

Abstract Purpose of Review Observational studies assessing the association of cannabis use with subsequent intentional self-injury have reported mixed findings. Longitudinal studies examining the association of cannabis use with subsequent suicide death are notably rare. Our objective was to review longitudinal studies examining cannabis use and subsequent self-harm, suicide attempt, or suicide death. Recent Findings Few population-based studies have focused on self-harm with considerable variab

Prevalence and Characteristics of Cannabis-induced Toxicoses in Pets: Results from a Survey of Veterinarians in North America (2021)

ABSTRACT Cannabis legalization in North America has coincided with an increase in reports of cannabis-induced toxicosis in pets, but the magnitude of this problem, as well as outcomes of these incidents remain unknown. Therefore, we examined the frequency, diagnostic criteria, clinical signs, and prognoses of cannabis toxicoses in pets in North America. We conducted an online survey between January, 2021 and April, 2021 targeting veterinarians practicing in Canada and the United States (US). Out

Assessing Effects of Diet Alteration on Carbohydrate–Lipid Metabolism of Antipsychotic-Treated Schizophrenia Patients in Interventional Study (2023)

This study aimed at finding whether healthy eating habits could be introduced to and maintained by chronically mentally ill permanent residents of a nursing home. Of interest was also if the effects of the dietary intervention would be observable as improved carbohydrate and lipid metabolism indicators were selected. Assays covered 30 antipsychotics-treated residents diagnosed with schizophrenia. The prospective method applied involved questionnaires, nutrition-related interviews, anthropometric

Functional dyspepsia and gastroparesis: are they distinct disorders, a spectrum of diseases or one disease? (2025)

Functional dyspepsia (FD) and gastroparesis (GP) are clinically managed as distinct upper gastrointestinal conditions but present with symptoms that are often indistinguishable. FD is a common disorder of gut-brain interaction that negatively impacts quality of life, while GP is considered a rare disease exclusively defined by delayed gastric emptying and symptoms. The degree of overlap between these disorders makes them hard to differentiate in clinical practice, thereby impacting treatment dec

Enhanced disgust generalization in obsessive–compulsive disorder is related to insula and putamen hyperactivity (2025)

Hyperactivation of the insula and putamen during disgust generalization neutrally mediates the higher degree of disgust generalization in subclinical OCD individuals. This study indicates that altered disgust generalization plays an important role in individuals with high contamination concerns and provides evidence of the neural mechanisms involved. These insights may serve as a basis for further exploration of the pathogenesis of OCD in the future.

Current Trends in Clinical Trials of Prodrugs (2025)

The development of new drugs is a lengthy and complex process regarding its conception and ideation, passing through in silico studies, synthesis, in vivo studies, clinical trials, approval, and commercialization, with an exceptionally low success rate. The lack of efficacy, safety, and suboptimal pharmacokinetic parameters are commonly identified as significant challenges in the discovery of new drugs. To help address these challenges, various approaches have been explored in medicinal chemistr

Cannabis and Psychosis: A Review of the Risk Factors Involved (2020)

Abundant literature suggests the hypothesis that cannabis use leads to the onset of psychotic symptoms. However, the nature of the association and the causal link remain controversial. This review aims to identify the risk factors involved in the etiopathogenesis of psychosis or psychotic features. Our electronic search found 1653 studies published until March 1st 2020. Longitudinal studies and literature reviews were selected if they addressed specifically the issues of the cannabis/psychosis r

An Updated Bio‐Behavioral Profile of the Flinders Sensitive Line Rat: Reviewing the Findings of the Past Decade (2025)

The Flinders sensitive line (FSL) rat is an accepted rodent model for depression that presents with strong face, construct, and predictive validity, thereby making it suitable to investigate novel antidepressant mechanisms. Despite the translatability of this model, available literature on this model has not been reviewed for more than ten years. The PubMed, ScienceDirect and Web of Science databases were searched for relevant articles between 2013 and 2024, with keywords relating to the Flinder
